I believe the prestigious one is "Rhodes Scholar". Perhaps you're a cartologist?
Is a 'Road Scholar' someone who's expert field is vehicular transport?
My grandparents grew up in Old Mines, MO, and I was interviewing my aunt years ago. She was telling me of a tradition where as children they had to “bow down” to their grandfather every New Years Day, while he said a bunch of words to them, she said “I have no idea why!?” (Hers was the first generation to learn English) She thought it was just some bizarre egoic thing he did 😂😂 She passed away before I learned about La Benediction Paternelle (the paternal blessing) and realized it was likely what she was describing. Wish I could have shared that discovery with her.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that memory.
@@richardboyer1346 Hi! yes I have no doubt we are cousins 😆
Thank you also for featuring musician/historian Dennis Stroughmatt!! He is a treasure.
Marie Rouensa is a many times great grandmother of mine. Her story is one of my favorite Genealogical discoveries. Thank you for all you do to preserve and share history.

So informative and well laid out . Great job on this .

so I was born and raised in California, but I recently found out my ancestors came from Fulton County IL. It seems like such a rural place, but I'd love to visit. I had Beaty and Lane family members living there since about 1850... wondering if any living relatives are still in the area.

Wonderful gathering! The ancestors are rejoicing!
Go Nicole!!!
"Mass Incarceration isn't about crime, it's about political choices the United States made to solve social problems." The Black Codes, Redlining, Segregation, For Profit Prisons. How well do you really know America? #VisionsOfJustice
No, no 54.15, historic oppression carries weight. It sets standards of behavior and Laws for consecutive generations. If you did not directly address it, you did not get rid of it.
The most effective way to end mass incarceration is for each individual to make a commitment to live a crime free life!
Thanks all Illinois Humanities The Odyssey Project and special thanks Julia Rossi, Becky Amato, Teachers, Class of 2019 for the amazing time together. You are the best to create dreams. “Sueños de un Souvenir”
I am from Dallas City, part of Forgotonia in Hancock County. I personally remember the Forgotonia movement. However, I think that this documentary forgets Forgotonia except in the very beginning. You mention it in the beginning, then move on to people, including politicians that really have no clue what the movement was about. You have graphics explaining distribution of funds that really make the Forgotonia movement look foolish to even think about the area of ever being in financial difficulty. You have people plugging their own media about totally unrelated things. Young people, no matter how much they study, although they may mean well, still have no clue because they did not live it. I was really hoping for more from the program. And although it is great that you remember it, the content is sorely lacking in reality.
Congratulations!
Wonderful event!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, 2020 Grads!!
Great video Matt
That was an awesome program! Great job Illinois Humanities.
I so much wanted to listen to this presentation. However the gentleman is a writer more than a speaker. He doesn't understand the need to have a different voice for speaking than writing. I will look for his presentation in other formats.
So you did not bother to listen to the content of what he said because you didn't like the way his voice sounds? 🤔
Dr. Horton is amazing!
Civil engagement... Great, politically centrist initiatives. Question. Just awoke from a coma who 🏆 dnc16?
hi matt
Hello Matt
Glenn Poshard is a true statesman and we are fortunate to have had him represent Southern illinois in Washington D.C.
Thought I had the wrong channel for a bit there.
